Reddit's costume horror stories start with the wrong size chart

Reddit's compiled costume-disaster list is full of sizing fails: straps that slip constantly (31% of complaints), fabric that goes see-through under party lights (26%), and zippers that split within two hours (19%). AliExpress return analyses show costumes "run 2–3 sizes smaller than standard US women's sizing, even when ordered according to the provided chart." Weibo's Lo-community posts the same problem in Chinese: "on the figure the sleeves float, on me the shoulders collapse." This guide exists so you buy the right size on the first order.

Reddit reviews and AliExpress return analyses repeatedly show Asian-sized costume charts run 1–2 sizes smaller than US/EU sizing. Straps slip, zippers split, fabric goes sheer under party lights. Order one size larger than your normal fit.

What if I am between sizes?

Always size up. A costume that is slightly loose can be pinned, belted or tucked; one that is too small cannot be fixed the night of Halloween.

Does this apply to kids too?

Yes. Kid costumes on Amazon and Shein also run small, and kids grow fast. Order a size that leaves room for a layer underneath.
